Week 5: Tuesday – Friday May 26 – 29, 2015 (Day 31 – 35) – Ford Campaign and “Found Sound” Song Ideas

1. Get your 29th – 32nd personal blog up and posted. The student’s writings for the remainder of the course will be based on all of the four “Creative Word, Creative Experiment, Daily Dose and Daily Action” sections from the Daily Meds workbook (PDF fine found under the tab “The Workbook” at https://musicaldailymeds.wordpress.com). Students are to write on ALL four sections. These 45 personal blogs need to be roughly a half a page long (100 words).

2. Record 1 recording/video for each day before next class using the phone and/or recording software you have. The recordings the students do for the remainder of the course will be based on the “Creative Word and/or Creative Experiment” sections from the Daily Meds workbook (found under the tab “The Workbook” at https://musicaldailymeds.wordpress.com). 3. Continue working on your Ford Ideas and create your Presentation “ideas” on the topic “Ford Marketing Campaign”. Be ready to present your final ideas on Friday of next week. Continue your “Found Sound” Songs and sonic ideas (JULIA only: Electroacoustic 4 track EP. NAT only: 4 Track Ep).

The following three assignments are due for tomorrow (May 20). The Following A, B, C and D sections are reminders of what is due and what the extra homework outside of the “Daily Meds” is: 

A. Using your “Sonic Tool Kits” in your Song for the Ford Campaign.

B. Continue to create Ford Ideas to present. This includes “Vine” videos.

C. Continue to work on the Daniel Lanois “Flesh and Machine” song traced and roughed out.

D. Remix the Peter Harper song and or use pieces of the Peter Harper song in your Ford Campaign.

The following three assignments are due for tomorrow (May 14). Please turn in all three assignments in one post on the students WordPress Account first, then Musical Daily Meds Site (Second in written form not a link) under the student’s “Post Area” and finally the Intro to Audio Class Blog last. Copy and Paste the main assignment page the student creates link under this post in the “Leave a Reply” section with the student’s name, time, week, day, date, and topic title at the beginning of the post (Example: John Doe, 11:25pm, Week 1 Day 3 April 28, Understanding the DAW). Remember you can link all assignment themes to the “Daily Meds Topic” of choice to help aid in finding a source of inspiration that is best for your recording and video needs. A. Sonic “Tool Kits” for Friday. (There should be roughly 15 sounds and more)

The main objective in doing these blogs is getting the students thinking more creatively around audio creation and in deeper sonic levels in the students daily lives. The more you blog, the deeper you will get and in turn the better your ears will become.

2. Record 1 recording/video for each day before next class using the phone and/or recording software you have. The recordings the students do for the remainder of the course will be based on the “Creative Word and/or Creative Experiment” sections from the Daily Meds workbook (found under the tab “The Workbook” at https://musicaldailymeds.wordpress.com). This exercise is about getting experience practicing recording getting used to working with a single microphone and getting the audio into a DAW. Also post your recording to your Soundcloud account, then that Soundcloud link to your WordPress blog account and finally to the class WordPress blog under this post in the “leave a comment” section. Please label all recordings in Soundcloud and WordPress with time, date and topic. There is no set total to be turned but something should be turned in by the next day on your blog before next class.
