Required Student Resources

  1. Text: Alten, Stanley R. (2013). Audio In Media (10th ed.). Boston MA: Wadsworth. Alten is available through the Sheridan bookstore on a purchase or rental basis. An e-book version is available. You may also find the textbook for sale by senior BFTV students, as it is the same edition used in past years.

  2. SD Card – with more then 4 gigs.
  3. Personal USB jump drive or similar storage device with at least 2 gig of storage space. Personal headphones with 1/8” and 1/4” plugs or adaptors. Several CD-Rs.
  4. WordPress, SoundCloud, Vimeo and Dropbox internet accounts.
  5. Headphones: You will require headphones for this course (and again throughout your BFTV years and beyond). Headphones are mandatory for every class meeting of this course! If you don’t already own a pair, it is recommended that you purchase a set of professional headphones. Some good options would be: Sony MDR 7506: http://tinyurl.com/pr5l4wc, Audio-Technica ATH-M30x: http://tinyurl.com/qh84s47, Sennheiser HD280 Pro: http://tinyurl.com/ndjcmhk. Avoid the Beats brand of headphones as they are not sonically accurate and are, frankly, obscenely overpriced. Also avoid ear buds! A high-quality, professional pair of headphones will provide excellent sound reproduction and will last for many years.
